• Multi-Format Player: The Yamaha DVD-S661 is a universal player, which offers playback of the following discs - DVD Video, DVD-R/R DL/RW, DVD+R/R DL/RW, Video CD, CD Digital Video, S-Video CD, Super Video CD, CD Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. The unit also supports the following formats - MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW; DivX Video files recorded on CD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW; JPEG files recorded on CD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW; KODAK Picture CD, and FUJICOLOR CD.
• CD Digital Video: The DVD player is equipped with CD Digital Video capabilities and will be able to play video and sound media that has been compressed together and recorded onto a CD disc.
• Video CD: The DVD player is also equipped with Video CD capabilities and will be able to play video and sound media that has been compressed together using the MPEG 1 standard, and recorded onto a CD disc.
• DivX Ultra Certified: The DVD player can play all versions of DivX video (including DivX 6), and provide enhanced playback of advanced media features like interactive menus, subtitles, and alternate audio tracks supported by the DivX Media Format.
• MP3/WMA Playback: This unit will play MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or DVD+R/RW discs using the ISO 9660 format.
• JPEG Playback: This unit will play JPEG still image files recorded on a CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, or DVD+R/RW using the ISO 9660 format. This unit can also display High-Definition JPEG images when connecting to an HDMI monitor. JPEG images can be displayed as 12 thumbnails, a single full-screen picture or a slide show. While viewing a single image, you can zoom in and out of the picture as well as pan through the image up/down and left/right. A single image can also be rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise, as well a flipped vertically or horizontally.  
• MP3/JPEG Simultaneous Playback: The DVD player will play discs that contain both MP3 music and JPEG picture data and play them at the same time.
• Video Circuit: The DVD-S661 uses 12-bit/108 MHz video D/A converters to ensure highly accurate playback of delicate, low-level video signals and give you a vivid picture that is faithful in every detail.
• Audio Processing: This unit uses a 24-bit/192 kHz audio D/A converter to maintain extraordinary sound quality.
• NTSC/PAL Compatible: The monitor type can be set to NTSC, PAL, or Multi. If you have an NTSC TV, set the output to NTSC and PAL discs will be converted. The Auto setting switches the output to NTSC or PAL depending upon the original signal on the disc loaded.
• HDMI Output With Upscaling: High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) combines uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio and intelligent format and command data in a single digital interface. HDMI provides the most advanced method of delivering high quality video signals to a home theater system to enable the reproduction of DVD with HD quality. Compatible with the HDMI Ver. 1.2a format, it can also decode digital audio signals from sources such as CD Audio, Dolby Digital and DTS.
